PHILOSOPHY
Our philosophy is to provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing learning environment for children in our care. We are here to support you in any way we can to promote growth in your child! It is our desire that the transition from home to school is a happy and rewarding one for the entire family. We encourage mutual communication between our staff and the parents/guardians and believe it is an essential element for your child's success in our program. We invite you to be involved with the Parent Advisory Committee, school programs, volunteer on special events (or any day), and join in the fun at our school.

GOALS & OBJECTIVES OF OUR PROGRAM

INFANT/TODDLER: Through developmentally appropriate materials and activities your infant/toddler will develop a positive self-image. Your child will be exposed to a wide range of sensory, self-awareness, and motor activities designed to promote the development of your child. Cultural and linguistic characteristics of the families served will be addressed in our program.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Social emotional development is a major part of our Infant/Toddler Program. Our caregivers provide a safe and secure environment for infants and toddlers. This promotes a sense of independence and self-pride in children.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: Physical development is an essential part of the growth process of children. We provide a variety of opportunities to promote the growth process of children in the use of small and large motor muscles. These activities develop coordinating movement in infant and toddlers.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT: The cognitive portion of our program provides for exploration, experimentation and problem solving, and encourages curiosity.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT: Language development is an integral part of our whole program. Through songs, books, and communicating with the infant/toddler throughout the day we set the foundation for future language development. At this time most language development is done through body language: eye contact, facial expressions (smiles, laughs, etc.), and through interactive engagement between the Infant/Toddler and the caregiver.

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT: Creativity is incorporated in all areas of our program. Through children's play a child develops their cognitive, social, physical, and emotional skills. By providing open-ended activities we encourage the children to play and be creative.

PRESCHOOL: Morning preschool is structured around weekly themes and is designed to foster all aspects of a child's development. We provide lots of fun, updated materials, small learning groups, and individual attention. The curriculum is planned to meet your child's individual needs. Daily lessons are scheduled to incorporate circle time, art activities, math or science, motor skills, computers, and language development through a variety of activities each day. Each of these activities is designed to meet the developmental growth of each child’s social emotional, physical, cognitive, language, and creative development. Cultural and linguistic characteristics of the families served will be addressed in our program.

SOCIAL EMOTIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Our goal for social emotional development is to provide the physical and emotional security for each child and to help each child know, accept, and take pride in themselves. We assist children in learning to communicate and get along with others, and encourage feelings of empathy and mutual respect among children and adults. We foster these social emotional feelings of independence, self-confidence, cooperation, and self-control by using a variety of positive guidance methods such as listening, reinforcing appropriate behavior, anticipating and defusing conflicts, or redirecting aggression.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT: We provide equipment, space, and opportunity for each child to develop both their large and small muscles through appropriate physical activities. We provide a well-equipped play yard to help develop a child's coordination, dexterity, and spatial awareness.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT: Our goal for the cognitive growth for each child is to provide a program rich in a variety of tactile and open-ended activities that will promote problem solving, classifying, seriation, and conceptualization skills. We provide activities and equipment on a daily basis to help develop these cognitive areas of growth.

LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT: Language development is an integral part of our whole program. We help the preschooler to express his/her wants and needs through language communication. The teacher helps develop oral language skills in each child by reading, singing songs, finger plays, and through interaction with other children and the teacher.

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT: Creativity is developed through art, drama, inside and outside play, and throughout our whole program. We provide a variety of materials and opportunities for the children to create and explore throughout the day.
